Open access theses
Everyone in HAMK is familiar with Theseus, but there are other theses repositories. Here are a few tips of where you can find theses – in full text, and free of charge.
Since 2009, Theseus has been an excellent example of collaboration at its best, joining together 24 universities of applied sciences (UAS). Theseus is a repository that includes not only theses, but also UAS publications.
Other Finnish universities have their own repositories. Some have joined National Library’s Doria, which also includes collections from expert organizations such as Statistics Finland and Finnish Transport Agency.
A good example of open repositories is also DIVA, where you can find most of the theses in Sweden. European DART and global OATD are search services based on metadata, but also include links to full text.
This week is the international Open Access Week. Open access, OA, refers to the open accessibility of information. However, most often it is used to refer to the free accessibility of scientific information and research data.
