International degree programmes at HAMK will start in schedule using online studies
The start of Autum 2020 intake of international degree programmes at HAMK will be held online, either partially or fully. This ensures that all international students can start their studies despite the global Coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions. In addition to the flexible start to studies HAMK has made it possible for first year students to pay their tuition fee in installments.
HAMK’s international degree programmes will start in August as online studies or as a combination of online and offline studies. Students will either start their studies fully online from their home countries or take part in studies at the campus together with online students. All programmes will start contact lessons in January 2021, given that Coronavirus pandemic doesn’t cause further restrictions. This is when both online students and campus students are joined together as one group.
“Coronavirus pandemic has changed all our daily lives and brought uncertainty for students applying for higher education this spring. We bring solidity to this exceptional situation with our flexible solutions and enhanced admissions services”, says Vice Rector Heidi Ahokallio-Leppälä.
HAMK supports the start of studies for international students
In addition to the current travel restrictions, Coronavirus pandemic will complicate the arrival of international students in many ways even after the restrictions. Finnish Immigration Service announced that they will not process residence permit applications when the Finnish boarders remain closed. Therefore, after the boarders reopen, students might have to wait for their residence permits longer than usual. Furthermore, restrictions on international flights might affect the routes and availability of flights in the Autumn.
HAMK wants to support new students and the changes to the start of the studies are made to ensure that as many international students as possible can carry out their plan to study abroad and start their studies at HAMK. In addition to the flexible start to studies HAMK has made it possible for first year students to pay their tuition fee in installments.
“HAMK is experienced in online teaching. Interaction and introduction of new groups and forming a team spirit can be easily done online as well. Studies will start according to the schedule and no students will have to be delayed because of the exceptional situation when it comes to us”, promises Vice Rector Heidi Ahokallio-Leppälä.
Entrance Exams for January’s Joint Application will be held online, HAMK’s Direct Applications continues unaffected
This spring HAMK’s degree programmes have had two different application options; national Joint Application in January and HAMK’s own Direct Application. The entrance exams for Joint Application which were due to be held in our campuses were replaced by online exams. All applicants have received instructions to their email. HAMK’s Direct Application aimed for international students will have online exams as planned. Both the application period and online exams will continue according to the schedule.
