HAMK School of Professional Teacher Education ready for 2022 applications

29.10.2021 08:38

The School of Professional Teacher Education is looking for motivated applicants who want to become qualified teachers in Finland. The programme is recommended for individuals from Finland or abroad, who wish to complete their professional teacher education in English.

A 13-month online programme is aimed both at those intending to become teachers in Finland and those already working as teachers who have not completed pedagogical studies. The programme provides the teacher students with the knowledge and competencies to teach and work in international learning environments.

After graduating, the graduates can work as teachers in vocational education and possibly in the universities of applied sciences. The education is also useful in different staff development tasks in companies and work communities.

The application period for the International Professional Teacher Education programme begins on 5 January 2022 and ends on 20 January 2022 at 15:00 (EET).

The language of the programme is English. The applicant should have the English language level of IELTS 6/CEFR B2 or higher. No Finnish knowledge is required. HAMK School of Professional Teacher Education also organizes teacher education in Finnish, and applicants who have a Finnish language level of B2 or higher can choose to study also in Finnish.

The qualification requirements are determined by the applicant’s existing degree and work experience. The requirements for the applicants are a relevant degree completed in a university or University of Applied Sciences, and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a field corresponding to the degree (5 years of work experience in the field of health and social service). In some cases, work experience is not required. The reason for different work experience requirements is that the professional teacher education programme is intended for both teachers who teach professional studies and teachers who teach general subjects (studies that complement vocational skills). The major subject/orientation of the degree used for the application determines whether an applicant belongs to applicants seeking qualification as teachers of vocational subjects or to applicants seeking qualification as teachers of general subjects.

Applications are sent via Studyinfo-service. Applicants will be ranked and selected based on their application score.
