Students who start studies in autumn 2021 will need own laptop
Häme University of Applied Sciences will start so-called BYOD (Bring your own device) -practice during 2020 and 2021.
All new students will need to have their portable laptops by Autumn 2020 and all HAMK students by Autumn 2021.
Each student must be able to install applications for their laptop, which they will use in their studies. Mobile devices and applications installed on them can be used to support studying in addition to a laptop. HAMK has outlined the necessary features for laptops, and each degree programme has its recommendations for laptops and accessories. You will find all recommendations on BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) here.
IT services will guide students and, if necessary, support students in the use of laptops. This change supports studies that are not dependent on time and place and aids the studies’ progress. Similarly, this leads to a reduction in computer rooms maintained by HAMK.
HAMK has been preparing the change for a long time, and now is the transition period for BYOD.
