Design, Business and Technology into a common school: HAMK’s School of Entrepreneurship and Business and School of Technology merging
HAMK’s organization will change as of June 1, 2022. The current School of Entrepreneurship and Business and School of Technology will be merged. Lassi Martikainen, dean of the current School of Technology, will start as the dean of the new school.
“We want to build a center of design, business and technology that will strengthen our operations and competitiveness,” says Vice President Heidi Ahokallio-Leppälä.
With this change, staff will continue in their current roles, and education continues as before.
“In the joint school, we are able to combine the skills of design, business and technology to better meet the needs of working life. We can make easier use of multidisciplinary studies, build cooperation between programmes, create new programmes and offer cross-curriculum studies,” says Lassi Martikainen, Dean of the new unit.
HAMK is strongly developing pedagogy in cooperation with business. The change further strengthens the operations of HAMK’s Design Factory and Entrepreneurial University.
Ulla Bard, Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship and Business, states that the combination of the new school’s fields of education is strong and meets the needs of working life well.
“In the future, we will be able to offer students even more diverse opportunities and deepen internal collaboration in developing new educational products and sharing knowledge and good practices,” says Bard.
Ulla Bard is retiring in the fall after the summer holidays.
