Employment actors offer platforms where professionals can present themselves and employers can present open positions. There are a plenty of such sites, and they provide information, instructions and advice for all stages of job search. You can upload your profile to the skills bank and find a work placement or job. As a HAMK student, you can find projects, work placements or job opportunities by creating a profile on the Hamk Talents platform where employers can find you. Or vice versa.

Approximately 40–50% of the graduates respond to the follow-up survey on the work placements of graduates from universities of applied sciences each year. Of the graduates, more than 50% have a permanent full-time job, about 20% have a fixed-term full-time job, about 5% work as entrepreneurs or self-employed persons and about 5% are doing postgraduate studies or without a job. The responses are compiled by field of study, and you can ask for sector-specific summaries from study advisors at the end of the year.

You will do well in the world of work when you know the rules of the game. You should safeguard your rights and know your responsibilities. The ABC to Working Life guidebook offers the basics of working life information compiled into one place. It describes the employee’s rights and obligations, the threshold issues of employment: employment contracts, working hours, holidays, salary, even pensions. It also tells about measures related to the termination of employment.  The ABC to Working Life booklet has been compiled by the member unions of the Finnish Confederation of Professionals (STTK).

You may also get support for introduction to work. The pay subsidy can be granted to the employer, job coach or employee.

To succeed in business, you need not only a business idea, but also such basic things as desire, courage, motivation and entrepreneurial capabilities. There are several forms of entrepreneurship – for example, you can test your entrepreneurial potential as a light entrepreneur or as a member of a cooperative.

Entrepreneurship is an opportunity for making a career that looks like you.  Test your entrepreneurial capabilities.
