Widen your know-how via Open university
HAMK’s open studies are for all who want to study in a university.
Choose Open Studies if you are interested in developing yourself or your professional skills or you want to update the know-how you already have with specific study units or courses. Study Path is the right choice for you if you aim at becoming a degree student. All studies on these pages are university level and they are selected parts from degrees to match the different needs of our open university students. The difference between Open Studies and Study Path is that the student who chooses Study Path aims at becoming a degree student by studying the whole first academic year with the other first year students of the Bachelor’s degree or the first semester of the Master’s degree with the Master’s degree students.

As a student of open studies, you are entitled to student counselling. If you need information about enrolment or practicalities, contact the student affairs office. When you need guidance related to the contents of the studies, contact the teacher in charge of the course/module or the student counsellor of the degree programme.
There are two different ways to study HAMK’s Open Studies, 8-16 and 18-100 methods. The 8-16 method is studying in the daytime and on weekdays. 18-100 studies are multiform studies organised outside office hours so that you may participate in them alongside your job.
You receive guidance about studying practicalities from the student affairs officers. Student counsellors and teachers help you with questions about guidance of studies. You can find degree programme’s study advisor from degree programme’s website, e.g. Applicants > Degree Programme > Contact information and teacher’s contact information in an implementation plan of the course. Other services available are IT services and library services.
You will receive a student ID and password for using HAMK’s email and other electronic services. The student affairs officer will give you the ID and password according to the contact information you give when enrolling. Check IT-services website for further information.
HAMK library and information services are at your service in HAMK units and online as well. You may get a library card to HAMK library from any campus. Be prepared to show your identification when picking up the card.
We collect feedback during the studies, so that we are able to develop our HAMK Open UAS education. Feedback is gathered from students also at the end of the course by electronical feedback form.
