RUN-EU General Assembly and Students week 2022
RUN-EU GA 2022
The second Regional University Network – European University (RUN-EU) General Assembly (GA) and the RUN-EU Students Week will be held in Finland, at the Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) on 7-11 November 2022.
The purpose of the General Assembly
The GA is a strategic governing body that acts as a senate for the alliance and as a venue for the RUN-EU Students Week. It meets once a year to discuss ways to improve cooperation between the seven higher education members and associated partners in order to achieve the goals of RUN-EU and cooperate towards the development of the associated regions.
More than an opportunity to evaluate and decide on high-level policy issues, the GA will enable students, teachers, researchers, members of staff, associated partners, and all RUN-EU rectors/presidents to come together in a unique multicultural and transdisciplinary in-person event.

Schedule
Information about the SAP and a pretask
The focus of this SAP is wellbeing and it will be discussed from a newly developed point of view of economy done with a future purpose, an economy that adds value to the wellbeing of people.
Aspects of wellbeing
You can choose from four different aspects, which are the following:
- ecological path – #service impact
- personal path – #passion impact
- financial path – #purpose impact
- societal path – #truenature impact
The task
All tracks will actually work together towards a final presentation on what steps should be followed towards a wellbeing society and how can wellbeing be balanced with the societal development.
The final product of these tracks will be a printed leaflet which will serve as a final report of students’ work.
More info about the tracks is presented below.
Each track will have 2 assigned supervisors who will be able to provide support.
The students can get familiarized to the subject by using the links provided below or by personal research. Each track members should have a group meeting before the start of the SAP and assign their own group leader/speaker.
#service impact – ecological path
What’s the positive impact that you personally want to make and how? Use the coming company visits to broaden your perspective on what is considered a good service impact from an ecological point of view. Are your actions similar to theirs? Are you walking on the true ecological path and changing your habits to really make a difference or are you just marketing yourself as an impact changer? Look at good and bad examples of companies struggling to perform a change in their business models to influence their ecological footprint and then analyze your own actions, while trying to find solutions that will influence your health status and wellbeing but harming less the environment.
See the detailed programme (pdf)
#passion impact – personal path
What do you actually care about? What do you consider enough to make you want to dedicate your energy to? Consider your wellbeing status now and think of what sort of career would maintain or improve the healthy you? Can passion find its place in a company? Use the coming visits to enquire about their openness to innovation. Then think on how you would create value for a company with a focus on the wellbeing, engagement, and growth of employees. The aim is to see how much one can contribute with something positive to the world.
See the detailed programme (pdf)
#purpose impact – financial path
How can I make a positive difference and make great money doing it? Are the companies really interested in their sustainability impact or the financial interests are taking the lead? How have different businesses dealt with this dilemma? Use the coming company visits to enquire about their company’s impact on the environment and how that has been balanced with the financial side. Then consider yourself and your future entrepreneurial impact: how would you make a difference? Would the environmental purpose impact your financials choices? What solutions would be valid?
#truenature impact – societal path
What kind of company will allow you to fully express yourself? Use the company visits to consider the type of business you would like to be a part of. How important is your own nature in choosing your future path? How strong is your nature and how can you use it for making an impact? Is your wellbeing going to suffer? Is your true nature going to affect your societal development? Analyze yourself and decide on best practices for maintaining your wellbeing while your true self becomes a fully functional member of society. What would add value and more meaning to your life?

Registration for Students week
Below you can find some essential information prior your arrival in Hämeenlinna, Finland.
Event venue
RUN-EU General Assembly and Students week 2022 is organized in Hämeenlinna University Center at Visamäki (Visamäentie 35 A). Hämeenlinna University Centre map (pdf) for this week.
Tap water
Finland has pure and healthy tap water, which is available almost anywhere free of charge. Tap water in Finland is among the highest quality in the world and needs no treatment in many areas. If you carry your own reusable bottle with you (and hopefully you do), you can fill your own bottle from the tap.
Suitable clothing and footwear
Always check the weather forecast before your trip.
For most of the year, the key to a perfect Finland outfit is layers. Snow can start to fall in November but usually the temperature on the southern part of Finland is 0…+5 degrees (depends on the wind direction). It can also rain so it might be wise to pack a wind/waterproof jacket or take at least an umbrella with you.
For walking outdoors be sure to bring some sneakers or other athletic shoes with you.
Inside temperatures will be warm so wearing your thermals on a normal day could get too warm. However, long-sleeved everything will still be your best friend!

Arrival in Finland – Covid-19
The temporary sections of the Communicable Diseases Act concerning COVID-19 certificates required when arriving in Finland are no longer in force. Entry into Finland will work in the same manner as before the coronavirus pandemic. Passengers arriving from outside the EU and Schengen area must still have ordinary travel documents, i.e., passports and, if necessary, visas. Still, we encourage you to check the latest updates and guidelines of the Finnish institute for health and welfare before travelling. The updated info can be found on their website.
