Webinar: Stabilization of Steel Structures by Steel Cladding System in Fire (STABFI)

Traditionally the structural stability of steel building frames is ensured by frame action or bracing elements. Recent Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) projects have demonstrated that significant cost savings can be achieved, if cladding panels forming the building envelope are used to provide stability. Cladding panels are typically sandwich panels or trapezoidal sheeting. However, these projects have not considered the fire limit state. The aim of the European RFCS project STABFI (Steel cladding systems for stabilization of steel buildings in fire) is to produce new information to cover the fire situation. The project is focused on single storey industrial and commercial buildings.

This webinar is to disseminate the research results of the project STABFI.

The webinar will be organized by HAMK Tech Research Unit on Wednesday 27.5.2020.

The webinar is free of charge and it is mainly held in English. The webinar is targeted to Finnish Designers and Researchers in the field of structural engineering, and, to all others interested in the webinar topic.
