Objective

This course is a part of the module Promoting Cultural Well-Being.

After completing this course, the student can
- classify the importance of sociocultural animation in various communities.
- plan and implement a culture, art and nature-oriented activity project in a workplace setting.

Schedule

The scope of the course is 5 credits, which equals approximately 135 hours of student work. You can schedule the project with your work-life partner and according to your own timetable from January 12 to March 13, 2026

Teaching methods

You will carry out a socio-cultural work-life project in the course, for which you will receive teacher guidance, materials, and support through a Moodle workspace. You will design and implement the project using art, culture, and nature-based methods with recreation, rehabilitation, and/or educational objectives. You can plan the schedule and whether your project will be live in the workplace or remotely implemented in the workplace together with the teacher and work-life partner. You can receive assistance in finding a work-life partner if needed.

The course is part of the module "Promoting Cultural Well-being" (15 credits). It includes the following courses, which can also be studied as individual courses:

Foundations of Cultural Well-being (independently online) 5 credits
Processes of Cultural Well-being (workshop on campus) 5 credits
Developing Activity Models for Cultural Well-being (work-life project) 5 credits

At HAMK, we follow the BYOD principle, meaning you will use your own computer and technological devices for your studies. You must have the right to install applications used in your studies on your computer if necessary. You will design and implement the project in work-life places. You will get help to find the place(s).

Degree students at HAMK register for their studies in Pakki.

We recommend this course package for those who wish to pursue studies in social work in the future. These studies can be credited towards HAMK's Bachelor of Social Services degree.

Please note, that enrolling for open studies requires a Finnish personal identity number.

Registrations are binding, so please note the cancellation terms for open university studies: you can cancel your registration at least 14 days before the start of the studies. Make the cancellation by email to opiskelijapalvelut@hamk.fi. The study fee will not be refunded if there are less than 14 days until the start of the studies, you fail to attend the studies, or you discontinue the studies you have started.

The study fee for open university studies is 15 euros per credit, and you must pay the fee in full at the time of registration. Note! We reserve the right to change prices before the start of the application/registration period.

You can provide course feedback at the end of the course package at https://pakki.hamk.fi/spark. Spark course feedback can be given no earlier than seven (7) days before the end date indicated in the implementation plan and continues for 14 days after the end of the implementation.

  • Cancellations must always be notified by email to studentservices@hamk.fi (Please note that during the summer and Christmas holidays, processing may be delayed).
  • Cancellations can be made free of charge at least 14 days before the start of the course.
  • No refund will be made if you are less than 14 days away from the start of your studies, fail to arrive for your studies or interrupt the studies you have started.
  • If you are selected as a degree student before you start your open university studies, you may be entitled to a full or partial refund of the tuition fee. In this case, please make your withdrawal as soon as possible by e-mail to studentservices@hamk.fi.
  • HAMK may cancel your studies, for example, due to low enrolment. Other changes (e.g. changes in timetable, teachers or places) are also possible.
