LearnWell – Well-being Services for Learning

What is LearnWell?

The research-based LearnWell process supports high-quality learning, smooth progress in studies, and the well-being of higher education communities – tailored to the needs of your organization.

Researchers and experts from HAMK’s Unit for Research and Development of Higher Education Pedagogy (HEPeda) support you in implementing and utilizing LearnWell at all levels of your organization, ensuring the integration of a research-based approach with practical development.

LearnWell survey

LearnWell offers a unique opportunity to understand students’ learning.

The survey measures students’ learning processes, experiences of the learning environment, career readiness, and study well-being – in a comprehensive and research-based way.

LearnWell provides versatile summaries at individual, group, and institutional levels. The results are reflected upon in guided discussions with the respondent group, enhancing dialogue between students and the higher education institution.

Why LearnWell?

  • Supports students’ self-reflection and increases awareness of their own learning
  • Enhances the entire higher education community’s understanding of pedagogical well-being, and how the learning environment can support both learning and well-being
  • Produces research-based data that can be used to develop teaching and education

LearnWell ensures that learning, well-being, and high-quality teaching go hand in hand – grounded in research and applied in practice.

LearnWell is a research-based and contextually tailored learning experience survey.

It partly utilizes the same indicators as the University of Helsinki’s HowULearn survey and is also based on the Finnish Student Health Service’s (FSHS) Study Ability Model.

HAMK has further developed the survey specifically for the context of universities of applied sciences, drawing on validated measures from previous research.

This ensures that the survey is both reliable and relevant to the everyday reality and learning environments of higher education students.

Experiences with our services

I enjoyed the atmosphere of both the in-person and online sessions, as well as the collaborative group work. There was good synergy between the group and the instructors, which created a light and cheerful atmosphere for our interactions. My motivation to actively participate in the training grew throughout the course.

I think it’s wonderful that we have a process like LearnWell available to us—and especially that the students have access to it. From the perspective of my guidance work, it’s great to have a tool like this along with the background support it provides. It’s really fantastic!

I think it’s really great that initiatives like this are being carried out. Especially in a way that allows students to respond over multiple years and includes follow-up — that’s something I find extremely valuable.
