Getting Around Campus
As a HAMK student, you can move around the campuses even when the doors are locked. You will need a key card.
Key Card for HAMK Students
As a HAMK student, you can access campus buildings, libraries, and the sports hall at Hämeenlinna University Centre between 06:00 and 22:00. You will need a key card when moving around the campuses during locked hours. The key card can also be used for identification when printing with HAMK’s multifunction devices.
The key card is personal, meaning you are not allowed to give it to another user. Please keep your key card safe, as there is a €30 fee for lost cards. When your student rights end, you must return the separate key card.
Key cards are active only between 06:00 and 22:00. Staying in HAMK study or sports facilities outside these hours is prohibited and will trigger an alert to the security company. Please leave the buildings in good time to avoid unnecessary alarms. Any costs arising from false alarms will be fully charged to the person responsible. In cases of user error (e.g., forgotten PIN code), the person who ordered the security service will pay the security service invoice. Currently (08/2024), the fee is €38.44. When security personnel arrive, you must present an official, valid ID (HAMKO’s student card is acceptable). The details of other people present will also be recorded.

How to get a key card
There are differences between campuses when it comes to obtaining a key card.
A key card can be requested from the Service Coordinator.

If you need a key card, we will provide you with a mobile key card. Information about the mobile key card can be found in the announcements on Tuudo, Viva Engage and HAMK’s website or you can contact us at helpdesk@hamk.fi.
Continuing student:
- If you have a key fob, it will continue to work as usual.
- If you have activated a key card on your student card, it will continue to work as usual. (A key card can be activated on a student card if the card was obtained before autumn 2025.)
