Admission information for professional teacher studies for 2026 has been published
The application period for professional teacher education studies in 2026 will be held from January 7 to January 21, 2026. The admission criteria has been published today. HAMK School of Professional Teacher Education will offer two programmes in English.
The admission criteria and group descriptions for International Professional Teacher Education and Professional Guidance Counsellor Education for 2026 has been published. The 2026 application period will be held from January 7 to January 21, 2026. The application period starts on January 7, 2026, at 8:00 AM and ends on January 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Both times are in Finnish time (EET).
International Professional Teacher Education
The International Professional Teacher Education is aimed at applicants who are heading towards teaching and guidance positions in vocational institutions and universities of applied sciences. The focus areas in the studies are research-based and student-centered teaching, learning as a phenomenon, and the utilization of digital and interactive learning environments. The programme will be conducted entirely online.
HAMK’s professional teacher education programme has 20 study places available for those who look to complete their pedagogical qualification at HAMK in English. Applicants should have a higher education degree and work experience in their field of expertise to meet the eligibility criteria.
Professional Guidance Counsellor Education
Last year HAMK launched professional guidance counsellor education also in English. The programme is unique in Finland as HAMK is currently the only institution that offers guidance counsellor education in English in Finland.
In 2026, HAMK will select 12 new students for Professional Guidance Counsellor Education. The programme provides a broad qualification for guidance counsellor positions in higher education, vocational education, upper secondary and basic education. The programme is a continuing education programme for teachers, which means that applicants should have qualifications as vocational education teachers before applying.
Professional teacher education programmes at HAMK
The next application period for the training is from January 7 to January 21, 2026. Applications are submitted through the Studyinfo Service.
HAMK has two programmes available in English:
- International Professional Teacher Education is aimed at those who wish to complete their pedagogical qualification in English. Applicants are generally required to have a higher education degree and work experience and expertise in their own professional field.
- Professional Guidance Counsellor Education is postgraduate programme for teachers. A teacher’s pedagogical qualification is one of the eligibility requirements.
Both programmes in English are conducted online.
