Career Monitoring Survey: HAMK Graduates Highly Satisfied with Degree and Career

A large majority – 84 percent – of graduates from Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) are satisfied with their degree. In addition, 89 percent of respondents say they are happy with their career so far. Graduates highlight the growing importance of digital skills and interpersonal competences in working life.

Employment prospects for HAMK graduates remain strong: five years after graduation, more than 90 percent are either employed or running their own business. Furthermore, 77 percent feel they are working in a role that matches their education, and 84 percent believe employers value their degree.

These figures are based on a nationwide career monitoring survey for holders of bachelor’s and master’s degrees from universities of applied sciences. A total of 534 HAMK graduates from 2020 responded to the survey, with a response rate of 40 percent – slightly higher than the previous year. The results are broadly consistent with previous surveys.

Around 34 percent of respondents graduated in health and welfare, 20 percent in engineering, 20 percent in business or administration, and 13 percent in agriculture and forestry.

Five years after graduation, more than 90 percent of HAMK alumni are employed or self-employed.

Results for the common questions in the career monitoring survey can be explored on Vipunen, the education administration’s reporting portal. Visualised results are also available on the Töissä.fi service.

The career monitoring survey provides valuable insights into graduates and their career paths. It is conducted annually nationwide for all higher education alumni who graduated five years earlier. Universities use the data to plan and develop education and alumni activities. Students and applicants also benefit from the information for personal career planning and employment prospects.

Three per cent of the core state funding allocated to universities of applied sciences is determined by the results of this survey. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Culture uses the national survey results to assess the quality of education and development needs.

The survey was carried out online from 8 October to 9 November 2025 by the national career monitoring network of universities of applied sciences.
