Tulevaisuuden metsä – Pathways to Climate-Smart Forestry is a project that develops new ways to present and share forestry-related knowledge so that it better supports understanding, dialogue, and sustainable decision-making.
The project aims to create a clear and practical interaction and knowledge-sharing model to support forest owners and forestry stakeholders. The model promotes climate-smart, responsible, and site-appropriate forest management, while strengthening dialogue and peer learning among actors in the sector. In addition, the project enhances the knowledge and capabilities of forest owners, forestry students, and professionals to implement sustainable, profitable, and multi-objective forest use through various knowledge-guidance approaches.
Forest owners are actively involved in development work and decision-making processes throughout the project. A wide range of information design methods are used to present knowledge in an accessible and user-friendly way for different target groups. The interactive knowledge-sharing model, forest management pathways, a digital resource library, and visual materials support learning and decision-making. Participatory methods—such as dialogue workshops, peer meetings, and learning networks—strengthen forest owners’ competence and commitment to adopting climate-smart practices.
The Tulevaisuuden metsä -project is part of the Package of measures to strengthen forest growth and carbon sinks implemented in 2025-2026. This package promotes climate-resilient forest management practices, supports the growth potential of commercial forests, and strengthens carbon sinks for the long term.
