About the programme
The Mentoring Programme connects HAMK students with experienced Finnish professionals. Each mentor works with a small group of international students (mentees), offering guidance, career insights, and a first-hand look at Finnish workplace practices.
Students gain valuable real-world perspectives, while mentors benefit from fresh ideas and meaningful intercultural exchange.
As part of the programme, all mentees will also have the opportunity to meet Jouni Eho, Mayor of Riihimäki, for a group discussion on career development and the city’s efforts to support international talent.
This programme is organised by HAMK Career Services in collaboration with the City of Riihimäki.
About the mentors
Mentors are staff members from the City of Riihimäki, representing a wide range of fields and professions. They bring extensive career experience and a strong motivation to share their knowledge with international students.
As a student mentee, you can

How does the mentoring programme work?
- Each mentee will join a team of 7 people (2 mentors + 5 students).
- In total, 8 multidisciplinary teams will be formed.
- Students prepare questions and topics in advance, supported by a dedicated Moodle course.
- The programme begins with an in-person kickoff event at HAMK’s Riihimäki campus, hosted by Mayor Jouni Eho.
- Mentors and students will then arrange 3 in-person meetings in Riihimäki between October and December.
- The Mentoring Programme is from September 29 – December 12, 2025.
- There will be a Closing event during week 50 (December 8 – 12).
- It is possible to earn 1 ECTS credit for active participation in the Mentoring Programme.
Schedule
- Application deadline: Sunday, 14 September 2025 (23:59)
- Kickoff event: Wednesday, 1 October 2025, 12:00–16:00 (HAMK Riihimäki campus)
- Mentoring sessions: Between 2 October – 7 December (scheduled with mentors)
- Closing event: Week 50 (8–12 December 2025)

The programme is open to international degree students enrolled in HAMK’s English-taught bachelor´s degree programmes (List of Degree Programmes below)

Additional requirements:
- Attendance at 4 in-person meetings in Riihimäki (including the kickoff)
- Responsibility for arranging your own transportation (HAMK Career Services covers travel expenses based on student public transport fares)
How to apply and selection process
- Complete the application form by Sunday, 14 September 2025 (23:59).
- Be prepared to upload your CV as part of the application. Please have it ready before filling out the form.
- A total of 40 mentee positions are available. Group interviews may be part of the selection process.
