Iivari Kunttu

About me
Dr. Iivari Kunttu holds a PhD in Information Technology from Tampere University of Technology (2005), a PhD in Economics (Management) from the University of Vaasa (2017), and an M.A. in Education from Tampere University (2020). Since 2022, he has served as an Adjunct Professor (Docent) at the University of Vaasa.
Currently, Dr. Kunttu works as a Leading Research Scientist at Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), where he leads a research team focused on developing digital solutions for the bioeconomy sector.
From 2012 to 2017, he held an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Management at the University of Vaasa. Prior to that, he held various roles in the Nokia Corporation, including R&D Manager and R&D Process Development Specialist, as well as Project Manager positions at Tampere University of Technology.
His current research interests include smart bioeconomy, data analysis, R&D and innovation management, business development, and digital services. Dr. Kunttu’s work has been published in several international journals, including Pattern Recognition Letters, Machine Vision Applications, Optical Engineering, Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, Annals of Long-Term Care, Technovation, Industry and Innovation, Technology Innovation Management Review, and Journal of Circular Economy.
