About me
I work as a Leading Research Scientist at Häme University of Applied Sciences, within the HAMK Tech research unit, where I lead the Digital solutions in Bioeconomy research group. Our group focuses on processing, analyzing, and utilizing data collected from bioeconomy-related processes. Our aim is to develop methods that transform raw data into actionable information, supporting the optimization of production processes and promoting positive climate and environmental impacts.
Our work is particularly centered on climate-smart agriculture and forestry, although the methods we develop are applicable to many other areas of the bioeconomy as well. In our research projects, we develop data‑ and digitalization‑based solutions for various monitoring and analytics applications. The solutions we build integrate and process measurements collected from fields and forests, satellite data, weather data, and drone‑based information. This enables us to generate insights and indicators that support monitoring systems, decision‑making, and planning.
I hold a Doctor of Science in Technology (signal processing) from Tampere University of Technology (2005), a Doctor of Science in Economics (management) from the University of Vaasa (2017), and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Tampere (2020). Since 2022, I have also served as a Docent in Knowledge Management and Data Analytics at the University of Vaasa.
