HAMK and Feevale University Celebrate 20 Years of Collaboration

Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and Brazilian Feevale University celebrated 20 years of strategic partnership at the opening of the Novo Hamburgo Feevale Summit in October. Our collaboration has been long-term and consistent in both education and research.

Student and staff mobility between the institutions has been particularly active. Over the past ten years, more than 50 students and over 70 staff members from HAMK have participated in mobility programmes in both directions, strengthening cooperation as well as international and sector-specific expertise.

We also collaborate in research. The research partnership between HAMK and Feevale began with water expertise projects and has expanded over the years to cover several scientific fields.

“The collaboration between HAMK and Feevale has been strategic and long-term. Together, we have built a future where expertise, research and internationalisation are at the core. Our partnership is an example of how sustained cooperation generates lasting impact,” said HAMK President Pertti Puusaari.

In his celebratory speech, he also highlighted how the collaboration has led to concrete progress in other networks. It was Feevale that originally connected HAMK with the Polytechnic of Leiria, which eventually led to the creation of the RUN European University.

To mark the 20th anniversary, a group of Feevale students developed a new brand to represent the collaboration: the “Axis” commemorative seal. The foundation of this axis is the idea that HAMK and Feevale are united by a strong commitment to shaping the future. We are “Explorers of Tomorrow”. Axis symbolises our shared vision and courage to innovate.

“A heartfelt thank you to the multidisciplinary student group from Feevale for their outstanding work. It’s wonderful to see how the design thinking approach, combined with motivated student engagement, generates new expertise and such high-quality outcomes,” said HAMK Vice President Heidi Ahokallio-Leppälä.
