The Board of the Häme Foundation for Professional Higher Education and Research awarded one Young researcher Lauri Jaamalawith a grant of 5 000 euros. Public research grant ceremony was held on 23.5.2023.

The Board of the Häme Foundation for Professional Higher Education and Research awarded one Young researcher Lauri Jaamalawith a grant of 5 000 euros. Public research grant ceremony was held on 23.5.2023. The research will benefit the field of steel construction in HAMK‘s operating area.

Lauri Jaamala: Direct Design Method for tubular steel structures.

Modern computers are capable of accurately analyze entire structural systems up to the failure. However, this capability is not utilized in the conventional civil engineering design. In this research, the so-called Direct Design Method is developed for steel structures, which harnesses the accurate analysis method of computers for design use. The increased accuracy enables reduced material consumption compared to the conventional method without reduction in structural reliability.
