Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) is streamlining its administrative operations by initiating change negotiations in accordance with the Cooperation Act on production-related grounds.

The negotiations concern members of HAMK’s specialist and support services staff group who work in the Administration and Financial Services, Human Resources Services, Digital Services, and Library and Information Services units, as well as in their subordinate units.

A total of 90 employees work in these services. The employees within the scope of the negotiations have been informed of the matter by email. They are primarily based in Hämeenlinna.
The negotiations are expected to result in a reduction of up to 10 person-years of work and notable changes to the job descriptions of up to 10 employees.

The change negotiations are related to the sale of HAMK’s subsidiary Häme Vocational Institute (HAMI) to the Tavastia Education Consortium in spring 2026. Until now, HAMK has provided administrative support services to HAMI.

HAMI’s final administrative transition will take place at the turn of the year. With the transfer of ownership, the new education providers will be responsible for these administrative support services, meaning that the need for HAMK to provide administrative support services to HAMI will end by the end of the year.

The change negotiations will begin on 3 September 2026 and are expected to last for at least three weeks. During the negotiations, alternatives for minimizing the impact on personnel will be explored before any decisions on staff reductions are made. These alternatives include the reorganization of work tasks, substantial changes to job roles, reassignment to other positions, retirement arrangements, and personnel reductions resulting from a decreased workload.
