A New European Teachers’ Academy promotes social innovation and democracy

We are involved in establishing a new Teachers’ Academy that focuses on social innovation and democracy education. This initiative brings together teachers, researchers, and education experts from across Europe.

The Academy offers teachers the opportunity to develop new skills and methods that address today’s societal challenges.

We aim to create a sustainable European network that promotes international cooperation among teachers, educators, researchers, and policymakers. We are developing a common strategy for social innovation and democracy education and exploring future perspectives. Our goal is to promote innovation through strategic planning, education and mobility, and policy development.

The Academy offers teachers the opportunity to participate in short, intensive training programs that combine online teaching and physical mobility. These programs enable teachers to develop their skills in social innovation and democracy and apply them in their own teaching.

What does social innovation mean?

Social innovation refers to processes and solutions that aim to improve the well-being of individuals and communities. This approach addresses the world’s most complex and challenging problems, such as climate change, environmental degradation, inequality, and poverty. Social innovation is particularly important in the European Union, especially in remote areas where resources and opportunities are limited.

Through the EU-SIDE Teachers’ Academy, we aim to strengthen teachers’ skills in social innovation and democracy through a continuous, multidisciplinary, and international learning process. These skills are applied in classrooms at the primary, secondary, and vocational education levels, helping teachers develop their students’ abilities to meet the great challenges of our time.

The EU-SIDE Teachers’ Academy is a significant step towards reforming education and enhancing teachers’ professional skills. It offers teachers the opportunity to develop new skills and methods that address today’s societal challenges. The academy promotes international cooperation and knowledge exchange, helping to create a more sustainable and just future for all.
