Alumni Story: Heidi Heikkinen, HAMK and Master’s Degree Alumna

An ordinary mother found her way, consciously and out of curiosity, into the world of teaching and guidance, and stayed there to continue the adventure. It turned out to be a path where learning, development and supporting people go hand in hand.

Heidi is a HAMK and Master’s Degree alumna and now an experienced professional, but above all, a lifelong learner. Today, she proudly says she is part of the vocational education world. She works with great heart, advocates for vocational education, develops it and brings forward the voice of everyday life.

For the past ten years, Heidi has worked with student employment and cooperation with working life. She builds bridges between educational institutions and the world of work, aims to support students’ transition into employment and makes the expertise of vocational education visible.

On social media, she proudly highlights positive stories from vocational education and believes that appreciation is built through visibility, encounters and authentic stories.

At the moment, Heidi is looking ahead and wishes all the best for vocational education. With strong experience behind her, she is happy to do meaningful work in a place where development, people and purposeful work come together.

Heidi has completed several studies and qualifications at HAMK: vocational teacher education in 1998, specialist vocational teacher education in 2012, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2015 and vocational guidance counsellor education in 2018. She also completed the Qualification for Competence-Based Qualification Masters at HAMK in 2006.

Alumni stories

The Alumni stories are part of HAMK’s alumni activities. In collaboration with the The Moment project, they give alumni a voice and offer services and events that help alumni stay connected to the HAMK community. Through these activities, alumni can take part in mentoring, expand their professional networks, and make use of services that support personal and career development.
