Application Period for 2026 Professional Teacher Education Programmes Has Closed

The 2026 application period for professional teacher education programmes has closed. HAMK’s Professional Guidance Counsellor Education continues to be the most popular among Finland’s five professional teacher education institutions.
The national application period for professional teacher education and professional guidance counsellor education programmes ended today, 21 January 2026, at 3.00 pm. According to preliminary information, HAMK received a total of 1462 first-choice applications. 233 of these applications were for English-speaking programmes.
HAMK received a total of 1017 applications for International Professional Teacher Education programme. This was the second highest of all study options in the national application round. 172 of the applications were for the professional teacher education programme in English.
For the fifth consecutive year, HAMK has been the most popular of Finland’s five professional teacher education institutions for guidance counsellor education. A total of 299 applications were received for Professional Guidance Counsellor Education, and 61 applications were for the English-language programme. Professional Guidance Counsellor Education is teachers’ continuing education and HAMK is currently the only institution in Finland offering guidance counsellor education in English.
Student selection results
The selection process for professional teacher education programmes continues until March. The results of student admissions will be published as follows:
- The student selections for the Professional Guidance Counsellor Education will be published on Wednesday 18 March 2026. Selected students must accept their study place by Monday 30 March 2026 at 3:00 pm.
- The results of the International Professional Teacher Education admission will be published on Thursday 26 March 2026. Selected students must accept their place by Tuesday 7 April 2026 at 3:00 pm.
