Heidi Ahokallio-Leppälä starts as President and CEO of HAMK

Heidi Ahokallio-Leppälä, formerly Vice President of HAMK, has started as President and CEO of HAMK. The HAMK Board selected her for the position in June.
In its decision, the Board placed particular emphasis on her forward-looking approach to leadership. Ahokallio-Leppälä says that in the coming years, we at HAMK will focus on increasing the impact of our work.
“By 2035, HAMK will not be just a higher education institution, but a builder of the future. A platform where students, businesses, and communities renew skills, work, and the world together. Our impact will be reflected in better services, growing businesses, vibrant regions, bold solutions, and people who have the ability to create a more sustainable future,” Ahokallio-Leppälä envisions.
At the same time, Pertti Puusaari, who has served as HAMK’s President for many years, will take on the role of Senior Advisor for three months. Puusaari will retire at the end of the year and plans to use his accrued annual leave before his retirement.
