My Study Life at HAMK – A Journey of Growth and Discovery
This is a whole new experience for me, moving to a different country. Specially moving from Sri Lanka to Finland and started studying International Business at HAMK University of Applied Sciences. It was my first time living in another country and doing everything felt new and exciting. Everyday here brings new challenges, experiences and I’m learning so much, not just knowledge in business but also about myself. Inner strengths, skills and motivation.
Learning at HAMK
Studying at HAMK is a whole new experience. Moving with diversified students having different backgrounds and experiences giving me the whole new experience of the diversified culture. Moreover, it allows me to improve my interpersonal skills and the communication skills. Added to this, networking with the professionals and the students allowing me to improve my strengths.
At HAMK we do not just listen to lectures. We do lot of projects and work in teams and I believe this is very important for the future entrepreneurship to build. We get to work with international teachers and managers and business partners and this allows us to try our skills in the real-world practices.
Campus Life
My campus located in Valkeakoski which is peaceful and very nice place to study. The classrooms have all the modern facilities to have a perfect learning experience including libraries, cafeteria, meeting rooms, auditoriums etc. I have lectures in different times in different days which means we don’t have a fixed timetable, which I find nice. Flexible schedule helps me to manage my time and also allows me to explore Finnish culture more.
Living in Finland
I live in Tampere, which is little bit away from the campus but the good transportation system in Finland helps me to travel daily from Tampere to Valkeakoski. Trying new food, learning about the Finnish culture and the Finnish language give me more new experiences and a new aspect to the life. I’ve also made many international friends, and we enjoy learning about each other’s cultures.
Final Thoughts
As my final thoughts, I would like to say that studying at HAMK is not just learning experience for me, it helps me to improve as a person. This allows me to develop skills to adopt to the Finnish culture as an employee too. I’m happy that I chose HAMK. This experience has opened doors for many people especially the internationals to learn and grow.
