We examine how artificial intelligence can support teacher’s work.
Turku University of Applied Sciences, Häme University of Applied Sciences and the University of Turku examines the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to support the work of teachers, promote well-being and increase the productivity of work. Through interviews, participatory observation and surveys, the experiences and views of higher education teachers and pre-service teachers on the use of AI, related opportunities and challenges in the development of individual and community-based teaching are identified.
During the project, we produce research-based recommendations on how teachers can use AI to review and develop their own pedagogical competence (e.g. personal feedback provided by AI), as well as on how AI can be used to support individual and team teaching and teacher well-being. The research increases understanding of the use of artificial intelligence in expert work in the field of education.
Target group
Higher education teachers and pre-service teachers
Operating area
The data of this research will be collected from Turku University of Applied Sciences, Häme University of Applied Sciences and University of Turku, the scientific publications will be nationally and internationally shared
Research objectives
In our research, we aim to explore:
a) how AI can facilitate, support and enrich expert work in the field of education at both individual and community level;
b) what are the demands and resources for the use of AI;
c) the type of support needed by teachers;
d) how AI supports the identification and development of competence; and
e) how AI can promote sense of community and well-being in the work of teachers.
