Renewal and development in companies through systemic intelligence and network competence.

Renewal of a company as part of a broader network requires human actions, where people and shared efforts are courageously placed at the center. Leadership by numbers and digital solutions alone are not enough. Operating in a complex world, where network relationships and collaboration are key cornerstones for renewal and development, requires the collective collaboration competence of the entire staff. Competitiveness demands that a company’s employees can understand changes in the industry and shape the company’s business to align with these changes. This requires a deep understanding of the operational environment and network.

The goal of this project is to enhance the systemic intelligence and network competence of employees and leaders in the renewing industrial companies of Central Finland. Through the increase in competence, the well-being at work of the company’s personnel (including leadership) will also improve. Based on the experiences gained from the project, a generally applicable model for applying systemic intelligence will be developed for companies, which will help them develop systemic approaches to improving productivity, innovation capacity, and work well-being. Part of the model will focus on increasing network competence, where the active role of personnel is crucial both within networks and as a strengthener of the company’s own potential.

The project aims to involve a total of 27 manufacturing companies from the Central Finland region, divided into two pilot groups. The project targets the renewing industrial sector in line with the smart specialization strategy of Central Finland’s growth pillars. A renewing industry refers to a sector creating new technologies, innovations, and expertise. However, it is clear that the renewal of the sector requires continuous development of the knowledge and skills of the company’s employees and leadership due to the ongoing changes in the industry.

The objectives of the project are:

Objective 1: To help company leadership understand the benefits enabled by the innovation network of the renewing industry in Central Finland, clarify the role of employees within the innovation network, and increase employees’ competence in active network participation.

Objective 2: To develop the systemic intelligence and network competence of company leadership and key personnel, as well as their ability to utilize the skill potential of employees to promote renewal capability and work well-being.

Objective 3: To widely implement the benefits of systemic intelligence and enhanced network participation for SMEs in the industrial sector through the practical testing and validation of the application model.

Objective 4: To share the lessons learned throughout the project and spread the developed practices that renew working life for broader use.
