In the multidisciplinary VaKe project, our aim is to create a new business model for strong forest services and bring it into practice.

Our goal is to diversify the forest-related discussion by highlighting new opportunities alongside traditional practices, taking into account the perspectives of both existing and emerging actors, as well as people’s diverse values and relationships with forests. In doing so, we seek to expand Finns’ understanding of the purpose of forest services and what it means to be a forest professional.

We study the competence needs required for the sustainability transition in the forestry and nature sectors and develop education to meet these identified needs. HAMK contributes to this goal by developing teaching content related to the concept of strong sustainability and the sustainability transition in the forest sector, based on the project’s research results.

We also promote the necessary cooperation between different educational institutions, disciplines, and levels of education. Within this work package, content can be developed both as part of existing studies and as entirely new courses.
