In addition, HAMK students have founded the HAMK Entrepreneurship Society, or HAMKES. By participating in their activities, you can meet other entrepreneurial-minded students.
Launchpad HAMK
Launchpad is an accelerator—a program designed to help you develop your innovation into a fully-fledged startup. Launchpad HAMK is HAMK’s own innovation accelerator service, which helps you commercialize your innovation. As a HAMK student, you can use Launchpad’s services free of charge. At Launchpad HAMK, you can develop your idea and get support to turn it into a startup or other form of implementation.
We offer you a variety of tools, depending on your situation and what will be most beneficial to you. For example, we offer:
- an innovation voucher
- the opportunity to rent space and equipment
- general guidance on the startup process (book a time with us through Pre-launch HAMK below)
- useful networks
- opportunities to practice pitching
- assistance with user testing or market research
- assistance with the patent process
- guidance on applying for funding from Business Finland
In addition to these, Launchpad HAMK can offer you, for example, access to FiBAN’s Pitch Finland events, where you can meet venture capitalists and other like-minded innovators.

Innovation Voucher
The purpose of the Innovation Voucher is to support and assist HAMK students in experimenting with, developing, and commercializing innovations.
An idea or concept on paper alone won’t get you very far; innovations require concrete experimentation and testing. This often requires purchasing something, but there is no money available. With the Innovation Voucher, you can make various purchases needed to move your idea forward. The Innovation Voucher is not paid out in cash; instead, HAMK will pay for purchases up to the approved amount.

The purpose of the Innovation Voucher is to support and help HAMK students experiment with, develop, and commercialize innovations. Have you been thinking about an innovation that could bettermake the world? Do you have an idea for doing something in a smarter way?
An idea on paper alone won’t get you very far; innovations require concrete experimentation and testing. This often requires purchasing something, but you may not have the funds. With the Innovation Voucher, you can make various purchases needed to move your idea forward. The voucher is not paid out in cash; instead, HAMK pays for purchases up to the approved amount.
The goal of the Innovation Voucher is to financially enable the progression of an innovation from an idea to a pilot. A small idea can ultimately lead to a world-changing, impactful innovation!
The Innovation Voucher is divided into three different levels. The Innovation Unit will help you to recognize on which level your idea is.
- Level 1 is intended for the initial testing of an idea. The maximum grant amount is €500.
- Level 2 is intended, for example, for product development and further refinement of an idea or product. The maximum grant amount is €1,000.
- Level 3 is intended for well advanced ideas, preferably during the startup phase. The maximum value of the grant is €3,000.
The Innovation Voucher is not paid out in cash; instead, HAMK pays the agreed amount directly to pourchases.

You also have the opportunity to win an Innovation Voucher as a prize for participating in various startup competitions. Events offering such competitions include, for example, FRUSH and the Linnan Business Turnajaiset. Always discuss about your participation with the Innovation Unit in advance so that we can approve the competition as suitable and offer you the opportunity to win a prize.
No, you do not have to. The Innovation Voucher is granted also to test out your business ideas before founding a company.
