The media literacy course provides you with essential skills to act appropriately online and on social media services. You will also learn to use social media safely and wisely.
- During the course, you will learn to build a credible online profile for yourself so that you stand out from the crowd and know how to make your voice heard.
- You will learn to handle your personal data and protect your privacy appropriately. You will learn to avoid phishing attempts.
- You will understand how your personal data is handled appropriately and your privacy can be protected.
- You will understand the disadvantages of fake news and phishing and why they should be avoided.

This is an online implementation for Open UAS students.
You will complete the assignments and exams independently based on the learning material in the course. The course is built into Moodle. You complete the copyright section in the Kopiraittila online learning environment. This will give you the Copyright Expert badge.
Learning material
All the learning materials you need have been imported and linked to the Moodle workspace of the course.
Class schedule
Student's workload, 1 cr = approx. 27 h. You can complete the studies at the pace you want, but still follow the duration of the studies
Cooperation with the business sector
The course does not have an actual connection to working life. However, the studies provide key skills that are needed in today's working life.

Nonstop online implementation. You can start your studies within about a week of registering. The study period is 3 months.

When registering for studies, it must be noted that there may be prerequisites for the studies. Open studies for Master’s degrees often require a previously completed Bachelor’s degree. The student must consider whether their own background knowledge and skills correspond to the prerequisites required for completing the course.
Studying in an open university of applied sciences requires having your own computer. Those starting their studies must acquire their own laptop if they do not already have one. For more information, see the rules and instructions of HAMK’s IT services page. Studies often take place online and can be independent of time and classroom space.
A student studying open studies at HAMK (with a credit-based fee) is granted the right to complete the studies for the duration of the specific study. Any completed credits after the end of the study right will not be accepted.
