Objective

Targets: Student gets the basic understanding to the foundations of Project Management and about the requirements of different kind of projects.

Student:
• can recognize the essential features of projects
• can define project and its tasks and stages
• Understands what to take into consideration when building a project team
• understands who are the stakeholders for a project and can build needed communication with each of them
• can structure the basic elements of project management (time, finance, resources, targets, risks, reporting)
• understands the activities related to the closing of a project (final reporting, feedback, administrative actions needed, summarize the whole project with project team about the learning outcome for the next execution)

- building a project team
- project stakeholders and communication
- activities related to project closure

Schedule

Student works independently on Moodle platform.
The course is to be executed within three months

Assessments are not made during June and July.

Teaching methods

This is virtual course requiring independent work from student. Student works independently in Moodle with different sections.
Student could get guidance if required through Moodle, Zoom and other relevant tools.


Project Management course introduces you to foundations of Project Management and about the requirements of different kind of projects.

We provide some course materials (electronic books, videos, articles, etc) in Moodle. In addition student can to find additional material by her/himself.

Student workload, 1 ECTS = about 27 hours

Cooperation with the business sector

The course has no actual working life connection. However, the course provides key competencies needed in modern working life.

Nonstop online implementation. You can start your studies within about a week of registering. The study period is 3 months.

When registering for studies, it must be noted that there may be prerequisites for the studies. Open studies for Master’s degrees often require a previously completed Bachelor’s degree. The student must consider whether their own background knowledge and skills correspond to the prerequisites required for completing the course.

Studying in an open university of applied sciences requires having your own computer. Those starting their studies must acquire their own laptop if they do not already have one. For more information, see the rules and instructions of HAMK’s IT services page. Studies often take place online and can be independent of time and classroom space.

A student studying open studies at HAMK (with a credit-based fee) is granted the right to complete the studies for the duration of the specific study. Any completed credits after the end of the study right will not be accepted.
