Support for learning and practising Finnish: meet Essi, HAMK’s Finnish Language Career Counsellor
Essi Laine has started at HAMK as a Finnish language career counsellor. Her role is to support you in developing Finnish language skills that are useful for your future career.
Practical, work related Finnish advice
• group settings, such as Language Cafés
• individual support, for example in Teams meetings
• practising how to talk about your skills and experience in Finnish when communicating with employers
• learning vocabulary and phrases that are useful in your own field
• getting feedback on short Finnish texts, such as texts related to your field or presentation slides in Finnish
Essi is here to support your Finnish learning in a practical way. This support is not the same as Finnish teaching or translation help, but you can get guidance on career related Finnish, advice on challenges you may face when communicating in Finnish with employers or in the workplace, as well as tips and recommendations for useful learning tools and materials.
