Round table: What opportunities do the European University Alliances offer, how can we raise awareness of them, and how can we engage students in their activities?
From 12 am to 1pm, N-lobby. The round table will be also streamed via YouTube (in finnish)
Representatives from Helsinki University, Tampere University of Applied Sciences and HAMK will share best practices and experiences from their alliances.
Panellists: Tiina Koskiranta (Tampere University of Applied Sciences – UNINOVIS), Karoliina Jylhä-Kuusela (University of Helsinki – Una Europa) and Milla Koivulahti (Häme University of Applied Sciences – RUN-EU).
Tiina Koskiranta works as a Development Manager at Tampere University of Applied Sciences and serves as TAMK’s local co-ordinator in the European UNINOVIS university alliance. In addition, she is Vice-Chair of the Student Engagement group in the FOREU4ALL project, which promotes co-operation between alliances. Tiina has over 20 years’ experience in higher education, strategic development and international networks. In her work she is particularly interested in how alliance activities support the institution’s strategy and how an alliance’s objectives can be turned into practical collaboration that benefits all parties and makes participation in the alliance genuinely meaningful.
Karoliina Jylhä-Kuusela works at the University of Helsinki in the Unit for International Affairs as a project officer, and acts as the local communications officer for the European Una Europa university network as well as secretary and co-ordinator of the network’s Diversity Council.
Milla Koivulahti works at HAMK as the RUN-EU coordinator and is involved in international higher education co-operation within the RUN – European University alliance. Her work focuses particularly on international collaboration between students and staff, co-development, and co-operation between higher education institutions, regions and the world of work. Milla also examines international student collaboration in her own research, especially from the perspectives of collaboration, inclusion and the structures that influence practice.
The discussion will be moderated by HAMK’s communications specialist Jaana Siljamäki.
Workshop: United in Diversity – EU Values in Our Time, 9–11am
Welcome to join a collaborative discussion and workshop on European values!
The discussion on values is currently highly topical, active, and important. Are we living in a value vacuum, or are we witnessing a strong divergence – even confrontation – of values? Are values undergoing change in Europe and globally? How do values influence the work of the European Union, Häme University of Applied Sciences, and the RUN-EU network?
The training will be given by Krista Taipale, Director of the Häme EU Office, and is aimed at HAMK staff. Read more and register (HAMK intranet, only for HAMK staff).
