Design students’ work presented in Packaging Première art gallery in Milan

HAMK’s design students had an opportunity to submit their artwork for an annual prestigious design event Packaging Première. This year the event, held in Milan, Italy on the 19–21 May 2026, will showcase several art pieces by HAMK’s students as four students had their pieces selected by the art gallery committee.
Packaging Première is an annual design event for the future of luxury packaging. Part of the event is an art gallery, a space to showcase artistry, innovation and experimentation, visions of the industry future. This year the art gallery wanted to redefine the dialogue between art and design with their Folded Realities theme.
To be presented in the art gallery, the call for artists requested to submit a triptych, three pieces that would combine as a single journey together but could also be physically split up to three monochromatic rooms representing three atmospheres in red, white, and black. Origami-influenced theme-image and selected Italian music tracks were used as the base for pieces that would showcase the structure, visuality and hybrid between analogue and digital worlds.

A special mention in the selection process was given to HAMK students who “submitted applications of outstanding quality”.
For two years in a row, Smart and Sustainable Design student Elsa Babkova had her designs selected for the Packaging Première art gallery. This year, also the designs from Smart and Sustainable Design students Viktoria Selusenkova (main picture) and the design pair of Daria Songo and Yuliya Salukvadze were selected by the art gallery selection committee.
The selected works will be printed and presented in the art gallery in Milan. The original works can also be checked out in our Hämeenlinna campus exhibition display. For an online preview of the gallery you can visit the Packaging Première website.
