Stormwater management, urban heat island effect, and biodiversity loss are phenomena that many municipalities struggle with. Effective, multi-benefit solutions are needed to address these issues, as climate change and loss of nature are progressing rapidly. In this project, we focus on promoting nature-based solutions that can help adapt to or mitigate the effects of climate change and biodiversity loss.
Our aim is to identify decision-making chains and individuals in municipal decision-making that influence the utilization of nature-based solutions. In addition, the project offers training and materials to support the use of nature-based solutions for the identified challenges.
We aim to produce clear and concrete instructions/trainings instead of just sharing information, which address the challenges identified in municipalities. Through training materials and reports, even municipalities outside of the project can delve into the surveys and results after the project has ended. Through these actions, we strive to promote climate and biodiversity work both in Häme and on a national level.
Target group
Municipal decision-makers as well as urban planners, zoning officials, experts from various departments, construction and maintenance project managers, site supervisors and workers, and potential subcontractors. Indirectly, also external partners of municipalities, residents, and green and construction companies operating in the municipality.
Operating area
Kanta-Häme and Päijät-Häme
