The HATTU project studies cooperation between humans and AI agents in teams. The name of the project is derived from the acronym HAT, Human–AI Teams, which means teams consisting of humans and AI agents.

The study analyses how AI agents are intertwined with the division of labour between humans and AI agents, the agency cycles between them, and the building of trust. In addition, their connection to perceived productivity and well-being at work is investigated.

This is how the project progresses

The project consists of three interconnected phases. In the first phase, the companies interview the members of two teams and AI agents. In the second phase, the teams of each company participate in thesis workshops, where the members of the company’s teams increase their understanding of their team processes. In the third phase, the interviews are repeated.

Statement workshops provide research participants with an opportunity to discuss the observations that have arisen during the research. At the same time, these also serve as group interviews, which help researchers better understand how the activities of teams and AI agents are intertwined.

Participating companies are offered training in the HATTU Academy, which is tailored to the needs of the companies in the research topics.

During the project, researchers will carry out an autoethnography of the development of technology.
