RUN WELL empowers European higher education teachers by combining innovative, research-based pedagogy with well-being to create more inclusive, supportive and high-quality learning environments.
The RUN WELL project delivers a sustainable, scalable teacher training program that integrates pedagogical and well-being competencies, adaptable across European institutions. Implemented in European countries as well as openly online, it provides practical tools for educators, enhances teaching quality, supports the creation of supportive learning environments, and aligns with Erasmus+ and European Education Area priorities.
The project aims to enhance HE teachers’ pedagogical competencies specifically on wellbeing on European HE institutions by disseminating research-based, innovative and open educational programme, integrating RUN WELL materials into institutional structures, and promoting sustainable impact across partner institutions and broader European networks. In addition it expects to generate improved pedagogical wellbeing, increased professional development opportunities, and enhanced institutional policies. Outcomes include widespread adoption of RUN WELL materials, effective dissemination across networks, and sustainable integration of innovative practices in European higher education institutions.
HAMK acts as the project coordinator, leading overall project management, reporting, risk monitoring and coordination, while also leading the design of the research-based pedagogical framework and training programme. HAMK contributes its expertise in higher education pedagogy and pedagogical well-being throughout the piloting, local implementation and evaluation of the training, ensuring consistency between the initial framework and its practical implementation. HAMK also supports the project’s long-term impact by leading the project website and marketing activities, disseminating results through its networks and maintaining the website for five years after the project ends.
Target group
The main target group in this project is higher education teachers, meaning the academics who teach in universities in Europe. Starting from the fact that there is a wide range considering the pedagogical competences among HE teachers; in many European universities academics in science universities lack formal pedagogical training, and in some other like in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences, the teachers mostly have basic pedagogical qualification, but they are not specified to teach in universities. Whatever teacher education the HE teachers have the competences in related to pedagogical wellbeing are not included in HE teachers’ professional development.
