HAMK contributes to the development of a European Data Space for Vocational Education
We are involved in developing a European data space for vocational education and training (VET) data. The aim is to create a foundation for more harmonised data that supports evidence-based decision-making.
Information related to vocational education and training is collected and used in many different ways across Europe. We are participating in an international collaboration that aims to develop the European VET Data Space (EVDS).
Our goal is to improve the collection, sharing and analysis of VET data across Europe. A data space is an operating model and architecture that enables multiple organisations to share, combine and use data in a controlled manner through common rules, standards and technical interfaces, without the need to centralise data in a single location. Through the data space, VET institutions and stakeholders will be able to share, access and use data more effectively at both national and European levels.
We are responsible for capacity building and training on the use of data spaces in the VET ecosystem. We will assess the training needs of VET institutions and policymakers and analyse the the skills and knowledge needed to engage effectively with the data space. Based on the results, we will develop a tailored training programme.
The training programme will include online workshops and train-the-trainer activities. The aim is to strengthen data space knowledge and skills in Finland and the other participating countries. The participants will support sustainable knowledge transfer and the wider adoption of data spaces within their organisations and across the VET ecosystem.
A shared European VET data space creates better opportunities for data sharing, access and use. In the long term, it will support data-informed decision-making and the development of vocational education and training across Europe.
