How can we better take into account the perspectives of foreign-language-speaking clients and improve accessibility in social and health services going forward?

We are developing participatory operating models, multilingual and accessible service solutions, and strengthening professionals’ expertise in language- and culture-sensitive client work.

Experts from Häme University of Applied Sciences are forming development teams in Kanta-Häme, organizing workshops, and piloting new multilingual service solutions in collaboration with the OmaHäme Well-being Region.

Target group

The primary target group consists of adult clients of social and health services who speak a language other than Finnish, Swedish, or Sámi and who use the services provided by the welfare regions and other organizations that provide social and health services

Another key target group consists of social and health care professionals and organizations, particularly professionals working in the social and health care services of the welfare regions (South Ostrobothnia and Kanta-Häme) who interact with non-Finnish-speaking clients.

The target group also includes collaboration networks as well as the third and fourth sectors, such as organizations, associations, and immigrant communities that provide support to clients who speak other languages.

The indirect target group consists of the strategic leadership and development services of the welfare regions, which will have access to the permanent structures, operating models, and evaluation results created through the project.
