Are you interested in becoming a professional teacher? The application for professional teacher education is held nationwide every January. HAMK’s International Professional Teacher Education programme starts in May.

Next application period: 8 to 22 January, 2025.

Applications are not accepted outside the application period. The application form is available only during the application period at the Studyinfo (Opintopolku) service.

Our Programmes:

International Professional Teacher Education

Looking for a new career as an international professional teacher? At HAMK, you can study teaching in English. This 13-month, 60-credit program is entirely online, allowing you to pursue it while working.

The schedule includes approximately 20 days of mandatory online teaching. Additionally, you’ll collaborate within a group and study independently. Upon completion, you’ll be a qualified teacher eligible to work in vocational education and, in some cases, in Finnish universities of applied sciences. Moreover, you’ll gain confidence in English proficiency and acquire more international skills through practical experience.

The studies commence in May.

HAMK’s Teacher Education

We have been educating teachers for over 60 years, providing strong preparation for the work of a professional teacher as well as further studies to become a special education teacher or a career counselor. HAMK has consistently been an attractive choice for those aspiring to become teachers, often selected based on recommendations from former students and colleagues.

According to the Finnish National Agency for Education’s statistical service, Vipunen, HAMK has boasted the best graduation rates in Finland between 2017 and 2021. This means that students starting their studies with us tend to graduate more frequently compared to other higher education institutions.

In 2023, HAMK admitted 370 students for vocational teacher training, 57 for special education teacher training, and 55 for career counselor training.
