Important to know before applying in Direct Application
- If applying with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, you must still provide your upper-secondary certificate and transcript.
- You can select two programmes per application. If you are offered admission to your first-choice program, your second-choice option will automatically be canceled. Please note: Smart and Sustainable Design and International Business Part-Time each require a separate application form. This means, for example, you can apply to two engineering programs with a single application, but you must submit additional applications if you wish to apply to Smart and Sustainable Design or International Business Part-Time.
- After submission, your application is final—choose carefully!
(Smart and Sustainable Design is an exception, as it has its own application period.)
How to Apply via Direct Application
For the Direct Application, HAMK mainly selects students based on their educational background for all degree programs. The only exception is Smart and Sustainable Design, which uses a special design and motivation task instead.
Start your application by choosing the most interesting degree programme and from our website you will find “Apply” box and you must choose the direct application box. Watch a video on applying here. From the degree programme’s page you will be directed to www.studyinfo.fi and you can fill in the application there. Remember to upload the following documents:
- Passport copy (or official ID card including your photo if you are EU citizen)
- Upper secondary school certificate + transcript with grading scale and official English translations (if certificates are not in Finnish or English)
- Language certificate (not required for EU applicants meeting English grade requirements)
- CV (only if you apply for International Business Part-Time)
Remember to pay 100€ application fee by the given timeline if you are a non-EU/EEA applicant (see more here).
Follow the instructions carefully and check your email — including spam and promotion folders.
You should receive your results within 2-6 weeks.
Before applying, remember to review information about:
Applying to Nursing and Early Childhood Education and Care in the January Joint Application
If you are interested in Nursing or Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC), you will apply through the Finnish national joint application system. The joint application period runs from 7 January to 21 January 2026.
All HAMK degree programmes are available in the joint application. The student selection method for all programmes in this application route is the Finnish National Joint Exam. Exception:
Smart and Sustainable Design will continue to use its own design and motivation assignment, even when applied through the joint application.
More information about the joint application, exam schedule, and required tasks will be published on www.uasinfo.fi and HAMK’s website before the application period begins.
Applying with the help of an education consultant
If you are planning to apply with the assistance of an education agent, please be aware that some operators may falsely claim to represent HAMK. Only official representatives of HAMK are listed on our website. Additionally, tuition fees should always be paid directly to HAMK and never through third-party providers. Using an education agent does not guarantee or affect your student selection.
