You will learn structural design and the design of load-bearing structures, as well as the latest design, production, and management techniques and their application in practical working life. Turn the intelligent future into reality with smart wearable solutions.
The Wearable Intelligence master’s programme is the first international degree programme focusing on the field of wearable intelligence – including smart textiles and exoskeleton robotics. The programme is delivered through collaboration between three Fennoscandian universities. Markets for wearable technology, such as smart devices and smart textiles, have developed significantly over the past decade. Modern society and industry are seeking intelligent wearable solutions to support people’s physical, mental, and social well-being.
In this course, you will explore wearable technology, such as smart textiles and exoskeleton robotics, with the opportunity to become an expert in the field. You will learn to design and develop new textile processes and understand how technology can be integrated into clothing.
You will learn to innovate and design intelligent wearable products from the perspective of the user’s functional, emotional, and social needs. Additionally, you will gain skills in commercialising your products by understanding the principles of platform economy and marketing. You will learn to design systems between humans and robots as well as manage control systems for wearable and soft robotics. You will also learn to use exoskeletons and exosuits in occupational and sports rehabilitation.
You will be equipped to design new smart textiles and exoskeletons. You can work in demanding expert, development, design, and leadership roles in the field of wearable intelligence within both domestic and international business environments.
The master’s degree qualifies you for positions requiring a higher university degree. The degree is officially recognised in Finland and internationally, and completion qualifies you to apply for doctoral studies.

The joint application for January is open from January 7, 2026 – January 21, 2026.
You can find the electronic application form the studyinfo page.
You can enter between one and six preferences on the application form. You may change the preferences and their order until 3:00 PM on January 21, 2026. After this, it will no longer be possible to change the order of preferences, so please consider the order carefully.
Notice that when you are applying for Master’s degree programmes you need to also attach a preliminary assignment to the application.
